The 1977 Zeffirelli miniseries were controversial about the divinity of the title character. Jarre, the French composer that put music to the silence of the desert, is famous for his use of unconventional instruments. Particularly in this score he uses the Ondes Martenot. The music is orchestral in a conventional way, far from the use of ethnic voices and darker music from more modern scores such as The Passion of the Christ (John Debney, 2004) or The Last Temptation of the Christ (Peter Gabriel, 1988). This film score is ranked Nr.8 in the Best Easter scores list <9 | best Easter scores | 7>
